A stay at DFG is definitely a romantic spot for couples to get away, but it is also a fabulous place for solo glamping and others. Over the years since we have opened our doors we have become popular also for solo travellers, parent child away time, girlfriends catch up, small groups – plus others…
Solo Glamping
A trip away alone can be daunting – especially if you’ve never done solo glamping before. Safety can be a worry.
If you are considering visiting us for alone time – you won’t be the first! We have had many solo travellers visiting us and from feedback we can say that as a location DFG feels really safe. Each hut is big enough to have all you need whilst feeling cocooned and snuggled into their own private space. There is a radio in each hut so you have something to listen to in the evening too.
If privacy is your priority we would recommend the Artisan. It is not visible from any of the other huts yet is close enough to not be lonely.
Parent Child
Some of the best memories of childhood are made one to one. As a child there is something very special about having a parent all to yourself.
We are close to many fabulous Jurassic coast beaches – for sand go to Lyme Regis or Weymouth, for advice on fossil hunting go to Charmouth. There are also many beach activities such a crabbing and boat rides at West Bay.
Inland there are quaint villages and great shopping from local independent shops.
West Dorset is a the sort of place the Famous Five would have felt at home to roam. It harks back to a bygone era and the childhoods of old.
– oh and don’t forget coming back to your own fire pit to toast marshmallows followed by a hot tub!

Each hut is only designed for two and we can only take one child per visit (accompanied by either one or two parent.
Small Groups
Often visitors who have experienced the calming affect of a visit to DFG want to share their experience with friends. There are certain hut pairings we recomend to do this.
The Artisan has larger hot tub big enough for 6. making them ideal pairings for groups.
For a group of 4 people a good choice could be the Artisan with either the Novelist or the Astronomer.
If there is a group of 6 then then all the shepherd’s huts can be booked and in this circumstance you can also bring a tent for additional space for up to an additional 4 (for a additional charge).

Please Note
DFG is not a party venue. It is lovely to have groups, but it is for chilling around the fire, enjoying nature, and catching up. There is no outdoor radios or loud music as this can be detrimental to other people stay.
