The Astronomer range from £125-£185 per night depending on the season or the the time of week –
Minimum of 2 nights stay. You can choose to check in any day except Sunday

Deposit for dates booked more than 4 weeks in advance is 30%; balance is due 4 weeks before check in date.

We've had such a wonderful relaxing retreat in such a picturesque and tranquil setting. The hut is fantastic - really inspired by the meticulously detailed craftmanship and style that has gone into it. LOVE THE HOT TUB! Star gazing was an absolutel treat . Thank you for everything we would highly recommend.

As we sit here and write this we are watching the mist slowly receded over the fields. We have had the most amazing time relaxing unwinding and recharging. The peaceful countryside has helped to quiet my anxious mind and time has really felt slower here. The shepherd's hut was cosy and on the rainy afternoon it was lovely to curl up and read a book. The hot tub was so relaxing and we enjoyed sitting in there watching the horses and the sunset. Tracy was so lovely and welcoming we will definitely be back.

We have had a truly lovely return visit. This time we got to enjoy a full seven day stay to celebrate my 30th birthday. Eveerything has been perfect. We have enjoyed exploring the areaand watching the ducks and horses. Although we had one or two rainy days we got lucky in the venings when stargazing and got to see a few shooting stars. Looking forward to staying for the New Year.

What ans amazing experience, waking up opening the windows and looking out at the beautiful scenery. Never seen the night sky so clear and detailed and being able to enjoy this also whilst being in bed was an experinece we won't forget. Retreat for nature lovers

As the name suggests – this is a great place to star gaze whilst glamping in Dorset!

The Astronomer star gazing Shepherd’s hut has been very popular since its arrival, with a kingsized bed facing onto our expansive views and a panoramic window in the unique copper ceiling directly over the bed. It is set in its own private outdoor space with covered BBQ area and with hot tub.

About the Astronomer

French doors give you access to the Astronomer, which is equipped with antiques and restored furnishings to give a relaxed country style. The fitted bed has ample storage below and a pull out table for intimate dinners for two. The ensuite’s basin was chosen from the bazaars of Morocco and includes our own handmade Fizzly Tree natural soap. The Astronomer is set apart beside a copse, with outdoor dining area, two loungers, its hot tub and covered BBQ area.

Ensuite

The shepherd’s hut has an ensuite flushing toilet and shower with our own brand Fizzly Tree soap made from natural ingredients and scented with essential oils. Toilet paper is also provided.

Kitchen facilities

The kitchen is furnished with freestanding antique cupboards and built in sink. There is an induction hob, kettle, toaster, fridge, china, cutlery, and washing up facilities with Ecover washing up liquid and tea-towel.
Tea, coffee, oil and sugar provided.
There is also cooking equipment that can be used in the Astronomer’s private area BBQ area.

Additional facilities

Within the forest garden there is also a BBQ hut. This is a hexagonal building with the BBQ in the middle. Guests in the Astronomer are welcome to use this shared facility during their stay. As this facility is shared by only 3 huts it is usually available for solo use. It is spacious enough to take a large group if you are visiting with friends.

In the hut is a drinks menu containing drinks from our local breweries and distilleries. We can bring orders to your hut during your stay. This includes our own hut special cocktails and own labelled wines!

Expansive views from the hut and local footpaths

We are fortunate to enjoy stunning views down a long valley all the way to Eggardon Iron Age fort. With not so much as a hamlet visible this makes for some wonderful scenery. As in the Novelist, above the bed is a panoramic star gazing window so the views are also upwards!

We are surrounded by a fabulous network of footpaths and bridleways – we supply a walking map. As a result of the rolling hills of Dorset each brow of a hill brings a whole new vista. Within half an hour walk of the glampsite you can see miles of the Jurassic coast all the way from Abbotsbury to Lyme Regis. You will never bore of this vista!

If you are wishing to eat out there are also some lovely places within nearby Beaminster or beyond. Beaminster is a 2 mile walk.

Lazy Sunday Weekend

If you are coming in on a Friday and just need to be home by Sunday night we have now introduced a 2 1/2 day weekend. This means you can arrive on a Friday night and stay until 9pm Sunday. To book this at checkout book Friday and Saturday nights and add a Lazy Sunday checkout from the Extras.
